Chitnys ("we", "us", or "our") provides a business management (ERP) mobile application for small and medium businesses. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect
Phone number. We use your mobile number to create and secure your account via OTP login.
Business data. We collect and store the data you enter in the app, such as customers, suppliers, items, invoices, payments, expenses, inventory and company details (for example GSTIN, bank details, logo). This data is synced to your account to enable backup and multi-device access.
Security information. We store your app PIN in encrypted form and use security keys to protect your data.
Device information. We collect basic device details (such as device type and app instance ID) and a push notification token to support app functionality and notifications.
Usage and diagnostics. We collect anonymous usage data and crash reports to improve app performance. This does not include your business content.
We do not collect your location, contacts, or personal media, except a logo you choose to upload.
2. How We Use Information
We use your data to:
- Provide and operate the app
- Authenticate your account via OTP
- Sync and back up your business data
- Send important notifications
- Maintain security and prevent misuse
- Improve app performance and reliability
We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
3. Data Storage and Security
- Data is encrypted during transmission
- Data stored on your device is protected using secure storage
- Access to your account is controlled through authentication mechanisms
While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no system is completely secure.
4. Data Sharing
We share limited data with trusted service providers only to operate the app:
- Cloud hosting providers, to store and process your data
- Analytics and crash reporting providers, to monitor app performance
- SMS providers, to deliver OTP for login
These providers are required to protect your data and cannot use it for their own purposes.
We may also disclose information if required by law.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active.
If you delete your account, your data will be deleted within a reasonable time, unless required by law.
6. Your Rights
Under applicable laws, including India's DPDP Act, you may:
- Access your data

- Request deletion of your data

Chitnys is intended for users aged 18 and above. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Delete Your Account

You can request deletion of your Chitnys account and associated data at any time. This is currently a manual process handled by our support team to verify your identity and protect your business data.
How to Request Deletion
- Email [email protected] from your registered email address (or send a message from your registered WhatsApp number to +91 94232 09232)
- Include your registered phone number and business/company name so we can locate your account
- Use the subject line "Delete My Account"
We may contact you to confirm the request and verify your identity before proceeding. Once confirmed, your account and data will be deleted within a reasonable time, typically within 30 days.
What Gets Deleted
Once your account is deleted, the following are permanently removed:
- Your account profile and login credentials
- Business data such as customers, suppliers, items and inventory records
- Employee, attendance and payroll records
- Device and push notification tokens
What May Be Retained
Some records may be retained even after account deletion, where required by law:
- Invoices and GST records. Under India's GST law, invoices and related tax records generally must be retained for the statutory period (currently up to 6 years). We retain this data as required, even after your account is deleted.
- Financial and accounting records that we are legally required to keep for tax, audit or regulatory purposes.
- Anonymous, aggregated usage data that does not identify you or your business.
Any retained data is kept solely to meet legal obligations and is not used for any other purpose. It is deleted once the applicable retention period expires.
